How to use your smartphone camera as a scanner

This feature is currently in beta, so we recommend using Google Chrome as your browser to ensure the best performance.

Requirements

Before starting, make sure that:

• You are using a smartphone with a working camera

• You are accessing LWMS through the Google Chrome browser

• You allow camera access when prompted by the browser

How to use the camera as a scanner

1. Open LWMS on your smartphone using Google Chrome.
2. Go to the screen where you would normally scan a barcode (for example, receiving, picking, or putaway).
3. Tap the barcode input field.
4. Select the option to use the device camera.
5. The camera will open automatically.
6. Point the camera at the product barcode until it is recognized.
7. The code will be automatically inserted into the input field.

Recommendations

For best results:

• Ensure good lighting when scanning the barcode

• Keep the camera steady during the scan

• Avoid reflections or damaged barcodes

If the scan does not work properly, try adjusting the distance between the camera and the barcode or check whether the barcode is clearly visible.
