Task types and planning rules
There are several types of operational tasks in the app (such as Picking, Packing, Receiving, Inventory, and others). However, planning is currently only available for Picking and Packing. This article explains how these tasks work and what rules apply when assigning them.
Task planning: what it is and who can do it
Planning allows you to assign a task to an operator, along with a start date and time. At the moment, only Supervisors and Administrators can assign tasks to other users.
- Operators can only assign themselves to unassigned tasks or remove themselves — they cannot interact with tasks assigned to other users.
- Regardless of the user's role, they must have the corresponding skill (Picking or Packing) active in their profile to be eligible for assignment.
Picking
- Can be planned as long as the shipment order is in the “Approved” status.
- Can be assigned individually or in bulk.
- To reassign the task, the current assignment must be removed first.
- The user must have the “Picking” skill active in their profile.
Packing
- Can only be planned if Picking has already been scheduled.
- Can be assigned individually or in bulk.
- To reassign the task, the current assignment must be removed first.
- Must be scheduled for a time after Picking starts.
- If Picking is unassigned or removed, Packing is automatically unassigned as well.
- The user must have the “Packing” skill active
